I learned a long time ago that if the enemy can’t get you to engage in sin, he will try to deceive you and entangle you in unnecessary battles.
When I was a young girl, I had a love void that I didn’t know how to fill, so I strived to get attention from people and boys in order to get the love I wanted to feel.

This led me down a bad road of wrong crowds, dating unchristian men (I couldn’t see any cool christian ones!) and getting my heart broken more than thrice.
I compromised majorly but wasn’t aware of it, because I didn’t know who I was in Christ or how much the Lord loved, treasured and valued me. Had I known this, I might have saved a lot of time and pain…
At 31 years old I finally came to the end of myself. My heart was broken, my soul was fragmented, another relationship had failed (I had lost count of the number).
I didn’t have any good Godly friends or wise counsel and my career was looking bleak.
The only thing I had left to do was cry out to God for help.
I had just moved back to my home city post breakup, where I met God as my knees met the floor in my dads living room.
I can’t tell you the peace I felt in that moment as I realised the Lord was there with me, and surprisingly He wasn’t mad at me. He was happy that I was finally looking toward His face again <3
And you know what? My heart breaks now looking back, because not once did I really pray or ask the Lord about any of my decisions.
I was full of independence and pride, constantly circling a mountain of striving, which led me to live with high-functioning anxiety every single day.
I was in survival mode just trying to pay my bills and find the road to happiness through people, money, and things. Obviously this failed me.
I didn’t know God had a purpose for me. I needed God desperately, but was too deceived to see it.

The next few years after returning to God were anything but easy, yet I am so grateful the Lord allowed a huge shake up in my life to get me back into His loving arms.
Now I can confidently say that while I’m nowhere near perfect, I am secure in who God created me to be.
I have a sense of peace despite life not turning out how I hoped or thought it would….
Do you know what comes out of your pain? Purpose.
Do you know what comes from a broken and contrite heart given to God? God’s love and beauty from ashes.
What comes after feeling lost – unsure of your purpose, who you are or what you even like anymore—is God’s love, miraculous provision, and peace that surpasses human understanding.
God wants to assure you that you can trust Him and His plans for you. They are there, waiting to be partnered with by faith.

Even when you mess up or think it’s over, His plans for you are still good (I am proof of that). You have a hope and a good future in Him. God really does turn all the enemy meant for evil for good to those who love Him (Romans 8:28).
