Hey beautiful
If you’re feeling discouraged, weary or disappointed as you wait for God’s promises, keep reading.
This blog post will help you recognize that this is a part of the enemy’s plan – to get you to give up hope in God’s faithfulness and to push you to give up on your destiny.
The enemies assignment is to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10). The enemy wants to abort your God given destiny.
But your assignment is from God and it is yours to fulfil. God will fight for you (Exo 14:14) and He will sustain you with peace and rest through life’s battles as you take it to His throne room of grace.Ā
Here are several reasons why the enemy may attack with disappointment and how Christians can respond to it biblically:
Disappointment can cause a Christian to question God’s faithfulness.
When expectations go unmet or prayers seem unanswered, the enemy may whisper lies like, “God doesn’t care,” or “God won’t come through for you.”
This causes doubt in God’s character, His goodness, and His promises.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
When a Christian faces continual disappointment, it can lead to discouragement, making it hard to see the future with hope.
If the enemy can keep a believer in this state, it can cause them to feel like giving up on God’s promises altogether.
Disappointment can cloud vision, making the believer focus only on the negative and losing sight of God’s bigger plan.
“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” (2 Corinthians 4:8-9)
The enemy often uses disappointment to isolate a Christian emotionally.
The lies of feeling unworthy or as though God is withholding good things can lead to self-condemnation.
This isolation can create a spiritual distance, where the believer starts to pull away from God and others.
“Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one anotherāand all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:25)
Disappointment can often trigger emotional responses that, if not addressed, can hinder spiritual growth.
A person focused on disappointment might miss out on the lessons God wants to teach them during a season of waiting or trial.
“Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” (Romans 5:3-4)
Disappointment often comes when thereās a focus on the here-and-now, the present reality, rather than the eternal perspective.
“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” (2 Corinthians 4:17)
Disappointment can rob a Christian of joy and peace, which are fruits of the Holy Spirit.
The enemy wants to keep Christians from experiencing the fullness of life in Christ, and disappointment can be a tool to make that happen.
“The joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10)
Itās normal to feel disappointed, but donāt stay there.
God is compassionate and understands our pain.
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)
Speak out God’s promises, and choose to trust in His goodness and sovereignty.
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
Replace lies with the truth of Godās Word. Disappointment can cause you to focus on negative thoughts. Counter those thoughts with God’s truth and focus on the positive things Heās doing in your life.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2)
Donāt isolate yourself.
“Bear one anotherās burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2)
Trust that God is working, even when you canāt see it. His timing is perfect.
“The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.” (Lamentations 3:25)
God is faithful, and He will use even our disappointments for our good and His glory
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28).
